Zayed National Museum, the national museum of the UAE, will narrate the rich history of the land and the region and tell the story of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, his unification of the United Arab Emirates and the UAE’s long-standing cultural connections across the world.Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Lord Norman Foster, the museum was founded in the spirit of Sheikh Zayed’s work and strongly held values, which encompassed a passionate belief in education, conservation, environment, sustainability, heritage, and culture all underpinned by his humanitarianism and strong faith.Zayed National Museum will hold in trust a collection of art and artefacts from the ancient and living cultures of the UAE, Arabia, and the broader Middle East. It will also be the primary institution in the UAE to display material related to the life and achievements of the late Sheikh Zayed.A centre of learning and discussion, the museum will actively research the UAE’s history and culture through archaeological fieldwork, archive research and the gathering of oral histories.Job PurposeThe School Programs Specialist will contribute to the creation and execution of innovative, high-quality events, initiatives, and activities tailored for K-12 school audiences at the Zayed National Museum. This supports the museum’s broader educational program and other museum’s priorities.ResponsibilitiesPre-OpeningDeliver school outreach & engagement programmes, initiatives and activities to create awareness of the museum collections, encourage visitation of school groups upon opening, and support teachers in the use of teacher guides & resources.Support the maintenance of partnerships with schools to offer programs in support of the thematic of the museum including organizing visits / tours and delivering on-site educational sessions.Support to the Teachers’ Advisory GroupOngoingImplementation and delivery of engaging, curriculum-based interpretive programmes for school groups supporting the museum’s narratives and collections.Lead school programmes onsite and offsite for school groups and educators.Support the implementation of the k-12 engagement strategy to maintain relationships with educational institutions including public and private schools, ADEK, KHDA, Ministry of Education and other educational centres, writing regular update reports, attending meetings, and delivering special events sessions for educators.Under the direction of the School Programme unit head support in maintaining, updating and disseminating the calendar of educational programmes for each upcoming programme of events, including researching and developing new educational programmes.Prepare all support materials including resource guides, education kits and information kits and resource materials for the programmes.With the Bookings Coordinator, coordinate the booking and provision of Workshops as part of the wider educational public programmes surrounding Museum events and exhibitions.Support and train the educators on the delivery of school programs workshops and sessions.Be available onsite during programme delivery times to troubleshoot and deliver programmes directly as needed.Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all attendees of the programmes and events, collating and assessing data and generating reports with pro-active suggestions for improvement. and ensure records & reports are made available to Marketing / PR, Learning and Public Engagement teams to enable audience analysis, CRM updates, and programme performance evaluation.Work collaboratively with the Digital Learning team and support in providing content for the digital resources.Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, history, heritage studies, cultural studies, museum education, history, archaeology or similar.Minimum of 1 year of experience in delivering museum education programmes, workshops or public programmes in a museum, art or heritage centre, cultural or educational institution.Experience in co-ordinating large groups with different needs in a museum or cultural setting with demonstrated ability to lead educational programmes and workshops.Awareness of current practice in schools and education in museums.Fluency in both oral and written English and Arabic.
