Microsoft MEA is a multi-sub region consisting of 7 subs, Israel, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Middle East Countries (MEC) and Multi Cluster Country (MCC). MEA is a key enabler of the market IT growth through solid partnership with Governments, Enterprise, small and medium as well as IT partners and consumer partners of the region.
The Finance team has the responsibility to partner with the field sales and marketing teams along with segments and business groups. Microsoft Finance is a truly global finance team and you will be part of the WW community of FP&A Controllers to make each other great and build on each other.

Jobs Purpose
As the Chief Planning & Orchestration officer for the area, the FP&A Controller owns and is accountable for executing the area’s core finance processes. As the manager/functional lead of the Financial, M&O, Investment, and Stat & Tax Controllers, the FP&A Controller is accountable for the end-to-end management of the P&L and proper statutory and tax compliance. As the main Finance partner of the Subsidiary/Area M&O Lead [and a key stakeholder of the Area VP], the FP&A Controller delivers crisp, timely and challenging business support for the success of the subsidiary and senior leadership team.

Prioritization
- Provides direction to key stakeholders with respect to financial management, resource prioritization and optimizing headcount. Judges headcount forecasting to develop accurate headcount forecast for financial and real estate planning.
- Leads effort to work with business partners to translate top-down targets to an accountable budget and to generate operational plans and strategy within their organization. Leads annual planning and forecasting processes. Reviews, analyzes, and prepares recommendations for preliminary and adjusted forecast cycles. Partners and solicits from senior business stakeholders. Orchestrates the rhythm of the business for area of responsibility including budgeting and forecasting.
- Communicates and provides direction and actionable insights on the state of the business to key stakeholders. Leads others to generate results through tracking performance, forecast accuracy, and partnering with business leaders to maximize profitability. Generates relevant and actionable insights to drive the business forward. Orchestrates the rhythm of the business for area of responsibility including monthly close and recurring business review preparation.
Partnership
- Provides financial perspective to senior business leaders to define and enable solutions in support of critical strategic and financial initiatives to maximize return on investment (ROI). Gains commitment with stakeholders to align strategy execution and mitigate risk. Empowers team to focus on driving profitable growth by being an integral part of the business decision making process.
- Applies advanced understanding of Microsoft business, market, and drivers of shareholder return to ensure senior leaders are presented with the most relevant data, insights, and recommendations necessary to support strategy execution. Attracts and inspires talent due to depth and breadth of acumen and business understanding.
- Conceptualizes and designs new approaches to how financial data is collected and evaluated to impact across the organization and achieve Microsoft’s long-term goals.
- Continuously identifies and empowers others to seek opportunities for different and innovative approaches to develop, adapt, and leverage best-in-class technology (e.g., Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Predictive Analytics etc.) to create value for Microsoft.
- Understands the interconnections between data, information, and results and translates this into forward looking narratives and forecasts. Provides clarity and alignment with senior leaders. Implements creative ways to show patterns and draw conclusions to help drive decisions and clearly communicate findings. Generates actionable plans based on complex results, ambiguous findings, and multi-year time horizons. Coaches team to translate data into actionable insights.
Protect
- Orchestrates comprehensive system of accounting policies, procedures and controls that span financial, non-financial disclosures, and accounting operations. Maintains accountability for internal control process and procedures regarding accounting, stat/tax, and regulatory filings. Creates work environment to enable sharing of control adherence risks. Ensures proper financial and accounting infrastructure to maintain reporting requirements.
- Builds commitment between business leaders and internal audit team. Advocates Microsoft’s filing position with auditors. Documents audit findings and shares results with impacted business groups.
- Partners with other support areas (Tax, Internal Audit) to drive compliance and controllership agenda. Anticipates and mitigates emerging statutory, tax, regulatory, and fiduciary risks. Inspires a compliance culture through openness, actions and decisions. Educates and promotes best practices and new developments. Influences and aligns senior leadership to prioritize compliance.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 12+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
- OR Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 10+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
- OR equivalent experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years experience managing direct reports.
- 5+ years experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.
- 5+ years work experience in matrix-based organization.
- 5+ years work experience in the technology or software industry.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) or equivalent certification.
