Job Description
About the Role Assist the Libarian in their work as directed and the running of the school library.
Have the authority to supervise small groups of children or whole classes of children, or when specifically requested to do so by the Librarian or SLT.

Maintain the school library by good housekeeping and stock taking
Assist students to find books appropriate to their reading level and interest and help students and staff source topic-related books for study.
Follow library procedures as directed by the Librarian e.g arranging for students to borrow library books, keeping records of books borrowed, following up on unreturned books via written letters to parents etc.
Teach younger students about books, their treatment and the library layout including teaching on the Dewey Decimal classification system.
Assist the Librarian with preparing the annual library order. Process delivery of new books.
Assist with computer cataloguing of all books using the Dewey Decimal system if applicable and produce catalogues of books held.
About Your Benefits Excellent level of general education especially in Maths and English
Strong communication skills with excellent standard of written and spoken English. ICT skills desirable.
Able to handle a range of tasks, work under pressure and relate well to children and colleagues
Previous experience of working in a library or working with children preferred
Excellent organisational skills
