Role Summary:

The Head of Technology (HoT) drives technology strategy and execution for the EMEA Emerging Markets Region in the pharmaceutical business of Johnson & Johnson. Owns the Emerging Markets operating model, performance, and culture; Partner with business to set the vision. Works in close partnership with business to strategically manage demand.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Technology Strategy

Create vision, align/prioritize business & IT strategies and co-shape strategic demand with the business

Define annual objectives and outcomes informed by business and technology

Collaborate with product group leaders to translate vision/strategies and customer needs into high – level solution requirements

Connect varied products into cohesive end-to-end digital business strategies and solutions

Define and shape new technology enabled business models

Drive continuous improvement and seek opportunities for business process improvement through technology, data and automation

Benchmark technology trends and analyze competitive landscape in/out of industry

Investment & Financial Value Management

• Maintain a pulse on performance metrics to focus on business value realization and pull-through, including end user/customer KPIs, product group performance, technical performance (e.g. available / up time), product maturity and revenue/market growth
• Co-lead business investment council(s), process and decision-making
• Invest with a venture capital mindset funding initiatives based on learning evidence to reduce the level of uncertainty; ensure dedicated funding is available for teams where needed
• Develop business cases, socialize and secure funding
• Manage Bus IT for BP, JU, NU and LRFP cycles.

Internal & External Partnership

• Educate and coach business to increase digital acumen and drive data-driven culture
• Engage in customer pre-sales, sales, installation and training activities related to our products & solutions
• Build strong partnerships and connections with technology providers, govt, advisory boards to shape policies & deliver innovative solutions
• Represent J&J in strategic technology discussions with key external stakeholders

Experimentation, Execution & Delivery

• Leverage knowledge of customers and broader ecosystem to drive identification / implementation of emerging products based on customers’ evolving needs through experiments before they have the scale to be a full product
• Manage specialized/local applications that are not aligned to existing products/groups
• Identify and promote opportunity to leverage cross enterprise platforms

Leadership

• Drive strategic global business strategy and process harmonization opportunities at the franchise levels
• Be a change agent, develop and execute change mgmt. plans
• Drive talent and culture agenda
• Serve squads, enabling them to fulfill constantly changing external requirements in real time
• Encourage diverse opinions and constructive conflicts from team members throughout the GOC to unleash full potential
• Enable and drive product and user centric mindset, models and delivery creating value for our employees, partners, patients and HCPs

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant working experience with technologies in areas such as digital, data and analytics, and customer relationship management, tendering and supply chain
• 4+ years in a people leadership/management role
• A strong understanding of software development methodologies
• Proven track record of delivery in complex, ambiguous and changing environments, adhering to essential regulatory and compliance guidelines
• Familiarity with the healthcare environment and technology solutions, including real world evidence and outcomes-based healthcare
• Degree in Computer Science/Business Information Systems, Engineering or related discipline

• Able to influence across a range of business roles and senior stakeholders
• Big picture mindset with the ability to zoom in and out of details, balancing both technical and strategic demands
• Genuine passion for technology, understanding how things work and a clear vision for applying technology to bring value to businesses/customers
• Business and results orientated, able to build effective relationships with customers, matrix teams, suppliers, partners etc.
• Effective team working
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders at different levels
• Good at facilitating workshops and meetings, prioritizing and negotiating
• Continuous learner, able to demonstrate a familiarity with current trends e.g. AI, Blockchain

Location and Travel

The role is based in UAE/Dubai office, but candidates must be willing and flexible to travel to other Emerging Markets & European offices 30 – 40%.
