About the role

• Oversee legal, compliance and onboarding functions across the group.
• Collaborate with third parties, external counsel and management for legal matters.
• Draft, review and modify legal agreements with third parties (clients and suppliers).
• Oversee and work with compliance officers and heads of departments to protect the company from legal risks and compliance breaches with efficient monitoring and reporting where required.
• Oversee onboarding function.
• Identify areas of improvement and automation within the responsible functions in line with company objectives.
• Liaise with HR for employment and consultant contracts.

Responsibilities

Legal:

• Providing accurate, relevant, and timely advice on a variety of legal topics that relate to the business.
• Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and approving various contracts and agreements.
• Managing and mitigating legal risks by designing and implementing policies, procedures and client agreements.
• Communicating with and managing any third parties such as external counsel, auditors or suppliers.
• Managing new company formations, registrations, administrative functions and company secretarial functions for all entities and shareholders.
• Staying up to date with changes in laws, rules and regulations that directly affect the business and the financial industry.

Compliance:

• Management of respective compliance teams and relevant compliance officers.
• Oversight of compliance reporting, filings, monitoring, queries and functions.
• Registering and managing regulatory licences including submissions, trademarks, copyrights, LEIs.
• Handling formal client complaints.
• Oversight of regulatory compliance documentation and assisting regulatory audits where required.
• Establishing and overseeing the AML country risk scoring.

Onboarding:

• Oversight of the onboarding function and team.
• Escalation point for queries on a day-to-day basis.
• Reviewing new technologies to improve client lifecycle.
• Improving communications between onboarding and other departments.

The candidate will manage three senior staff members with their respective teams and will be responsible for the relevant departmental budgets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in law from a UK/US/European university.
• Minimum five years’ experience in business / corporate law.
• Strong understanding of compliance and regulation in regulated jurisdictions.
• Robust project management and multitasking, as well as metrics-driven decision making skills.
• Strong people management skills as well as experience managing a team.
• Problem solving and resource management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure efficiently.
• Good knowledge or experience with compliance systems.
