Objective:

To achieve sales and profitability for multiple categories by developing merchandising plans, monitoring store level, open to buy (OTB), balancing stock, vendor matrix development and effective communication with stores

(* Vendor Matrix – Will review GMROI, sell through, ageing stocks, etc).

Purpose of the Job:

Ensure that products appear in the right store at the right time and in the right quantities by forecasting trends, planning stock levels, gathering extensive product knowledge, and developing merchandising plans to give first hand shopping experience to every customer.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Preparation of OTB based on previous year’s market trends, extrapolating it to the current year’s budget
• Overlook all the activities related to merchandising with proper planning, inventory control and gathering extensive product knowledge to develop environment to simplify the stocking

(* Inventory Control – i.e. inventory in right quantities through distribution, replenishment and amalgamation)

• Manage, analyse and review store sales from a space management perspective – daily, monthly, seasonally and annually, including department-level topside sales, actual/planned receipts and stock targets
• Provide department-level information and ad hoc reporting at vendor/group/classification levels to assist in the planning of advertising, marketing, promotions and special events
• Work closely with the buying teams to build product ranges using analysis of financial reports and sales performance in addition to customer trends, stock levels and performance
• Monitor competition & industry trends and recommend adjustments to business trends
• Be closely involved (part of the team) in designing layout plans for stores
• Ensure that products appear in the right store at the right time and in the right quantities
• Optimize the sales volume and profitability of designated product areas through a combination of space management and range management
• Oversee the delivery and distribution of the stock and deal with problems with suppliers as they arise
• Evaluate purchase orders and allocation effectiveness and ensure the replenishment of merchandise as required
• Liaison with buyers, analysts, stores, suppliers and distributors
• Analyze customer shopping behavior which will help in making smart recommendations that will strengthen and innovate HRS’s initiatives of marketing and displaying products
• Analyze and research customer insight with previous season’s sales and reporting on the current season’s lines and propose the best business strategies- this should include best selling price points, etc
• Effective and Proactive liaison with internal departments i.e. operations, IT, marketing, logistics etc as necessary to forecast, meet plans and to supply demand to relevant quality

Accountability

• Maintain and control Stocks to ensure product availability to consumers in all HRS outlets
• Setting up systems and procedures in all territories
• Managing, training, hiring and supervising staff in the Department
• Produces a detailed store by store space management historical data with projections for the forthcoming 6 months trading
• Develop sales strategies including determination of pricing, discounts, and special offers to set prices to maximize profits

Experience Required

• 6-8 years with Post Graduation Degree
• 3-4 years in Managerial position
• 2-3 yrs in similar position in Home furnishing retail business

Experience Preferred

• Experience in Retail industry in similar profile a must.
• Knowledge of strategic inventory management.
