A successful Associate Business Director – UX is an innovative designer, a decisive product owner, a helpful mentor, a team player, and a skilled client partner all rolled into one. They are highly skilled at crafting exceptional experiences for clients as they guide internal teams to deliver those experiences. Our Leads push the work through strong collaboration and challenge teams to think beyond the expected.
This is a hands-on role: our leads create designs and lead on UI projects, create user journeys, personas, sitemaps, prototypes, conduct research and whatever is needed to communicate the team’s thinking. They will lead the creation of design systems that nurture future innovation and sustainability while delivering timely and critical feedback wherever required.
Core Responsibilities:
Leadership & ownership on UX (UI where required) requirements, working across multiple teams and leading non-creative or technical staff on leading practices.
Lead collaboration between Experience and Engineering capabilities.
Possess deep understanding of craft, tools and process.
Propose UI and visual optimization and creative approaches that can drive users’ needs.
Deliver high-quality work through managing internal stakeholders and steering towards user requirements, always ensuring the user is at the forefront of our thinking.
Possess a holistic view of the work to generate realistic goals for their project teams to meet.
A) Strategy:
Design detailed solutions that address clear customer needs, business context, client vision, and project KPIs, working closely with the Head of Customer Experience to define all requirements and areas for client development.
Execute research activities (e.g., user interviews, field studies, journey mapping, concept testing, etc.) to uncover experience and product development insights.
Synthesize findings to form insights and build compelling stories that drive impact.
Prep for workshops and deep dives, moderate sessions, and provide other research support as needed.
B) Operations:
Establishing, managing and mentorship of a vertical of junior UX team members.
Direct client interaction with the ability to build relationships, understand client vision/direction and present designs and concepts.
Manage client and participant experiences to ensure they are comfortable, maintain confidentiality, and direct responsibilities amongst the core teams.
C) Products:
Develop the UX offering and products within the Customer Experience team, working collaboratively with the other practices to deliver best-in-class solutions for our clients.
Develop value propositions, playbooks and sales collateral for the UX vertical as part of the leadership team under the Customer Experience Practice.
Excellence at designing a brand experience across multiple channels, including web, mobile and native applications. Experiential, physical, and voice are a plus.
Excellent visioning skills, i.e. strategic illustration for future outcomes / client needs.
Deep understanding of user research, data considerations and testing processes.
Mapping user journeys and interactive flows based on a mix of analytical methods.
Advanced knowledge of component-based design-development.
Excellent planning, management, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills required.
A designer’s mindset, including empathy, compassion, and curiosity. The desire to strive for the highest quality experience, through design critiques and collaboration.
Proven experience as a design professional with an understanding of using data to inform and optimize creative.
