The Global Project Director will be an integral part of our Chairman’s Industrial Planning Office and will be responsible for the effective leadership of our entire project portfolio as well as individual Project teams. This individual will assume full performance responsibility and accountability for managing scope, cost, schedule, stakeholder relationships and contractual deliverables on all GFG Alliance international projects
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the entire portfolio of international Greenfield & Brownfield projects from conception to completion including but not limited to quality, safety, cost and budget management.
Lead an international team of Project Directors/Managers on planning, tracking, change control, risk and issue management on all projects.
Manage stakeholder expectations through project status update meetings, documentation, and project reporting tools.
Liaise effectively with internal and external clients, other contractors and relevant authorities.
Leverage industry knowledge to analyse and assess gaps and provide recommendations for remediation.
Identify project risks and developing appropriate mitigation strategies, recommends policy and procedure improvements.
Conversant with all relevant international codes, regulations and procedures.
Report and escalate project progress including revenue, cost, financial issue, potential risk etc. to all relevant stakeholders.
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to ethics and business practice.
Lead and provide strategic and professional guidance to teams on matters in relation to the project performance and compliance, contractual obligations and statutory requirements.
Any other duties that may be assigned by Chairman’s Industrial Planning Office.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of 15 years of working experience in Steel industry, or combination of relevant work experience in closely related industries (Oil & Gas etc) in Europe, North America, Australia, Asia with at least 10 years of experience in managing international teams on megaprojects.
Ability to understand all aspects of Greenfield & Brownfield projects effectively and efficiently.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to successfully communicate with all stakeholders including Head Office management and global team members.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Thorough knowledge of legal and contractual issues and safety standards is essential.
Able to adapt and prioritize, meeting deadlines, in a fast-paced environment.
Availability to travel extensively.
Knowledge of Project Control Management software.
Strong negotiation skills.
