We are looking for a Renewable Energy Procurement Manager to join Amazon’s Energy & Environment team, positioned within the Worldwide Sustainability organization.
In this role, you will help lead Amazon.com’s renewable energy strategy in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region by creating, analyzing, and delivering public policy solutions and renewable energy procurement agreements with energy suppliers and developers to help achieve Amazon’s ambitious sustainability goals. You will also support defining our path in EMEA for net zero carbon electricity, ahead of Amazon’s 2040 public goal to be Net Zero Carbon. You will build and maintain relationships externally with Amazon’s energy partners and public policy stakeholders, and work cross-functionally with internal business teams to bring on-site and off-site renewable energy opportunities across the finish line. We are looking for someone who brings passion and experience in the renewable energy industry alongside public policy exposure, razor sharp business skills, and financial acumen to deliver results in a fast-paced, technical and dynamic environment.
Key job responsibilities
As a Renewable Energy Procurement Manager you will be expected to:
- Evaluate the market for all types of Renewable Energy contracts and Net Zero Carbon energy opportunities
- Explore, propose, and leverage public policy opportunities externally, in collaboration with internal Public Policy teams
- Lead the financial analysis and business case justification for project opportunities in front of senior leadership
- Lead contract negotiations with external partners in collaboration with internal Legal, Finance, Accounting, Treasury, and Tax teams
- Create written proposals for priority opportunities, and drive agreements through to contract execution
-Master’s degree in related field
-Demonstrated experience with influencing change at scale in the energy industry and external public policy engagement
-Extensive experience leading initiatives related to renewable energy generation, energy storage and sustainability projects in the energy industry
-Proven ability to successfully collaborate with senior leadership, suppliers, and customers
-The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
-Experience with carbon data, environmental attribute programs, green tariffs, renewable energy development
